Vashon Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is the application of a strong, natural-looking resin onto the surface of damaged teeth. Whether your teeth are stained, cracked, or mildly misaligned, cosmetic dental bonding can often be used to restore a beautiful smile quickly.

The bonding materials act as a replacement for missing enamel and dentin, providing durable protection and enhancement for your teeth. Here at Vashon Dental, Dr. Leif Rasmussen (owner and resident dental surgeon), matches the composite resin to the rest of your teeth to seamlessly blend in and cover any imperfections. Before you know it, you can have the smile you’ve been waiting for!
Vashon Dental Implants
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the most modern method of replacing a missing tooth or multiple teeth. Gaps formed by missing teeth can cause bone loss, worsen periodontal disease, and infections that may affect a person’s ability to eat or speak. It is very important to fill in any gaps as soon as possible to prevent the adjacent and opposing teeth from shifting positions or causing further damage. No one likes the idea that his or her smile will be incomplete. In addition, we all rely on every one of our teeth for eating, speaking, smiling, and looking beautiful.

In addition to their aesthetic purposes, dental implants offer additional health benefits, allowing tooth replacement without affecting the adjacent teeth. Additionally, dental implants can support a bridge and eliminate the need for removable partial dentures.
Vashon Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening
At Vashon Dental, we are known for improving the appearance of our patients' smiles using non-toxic, eco-friendly methods which are more effective than (if not equal to) usual methods. We are a cosmetic dentist and we have extensive knowledge on the best products for whitening.

We recommend a teeth whitening procedure along with a regular cleaning as it is the easiest way to improve your results. After cleaning your teeth, we complete this procedure in time for a special event or as part of your regular oral health routine.
Vashon Dental veneers
Dental Veneers
Porcelain dental veneers are thin, ceramic shells that are placed over a damaged, misaligned, or stained tooth to conceal cosmetic issues and create a new appearance. They are one of the most effective and aesthetically gratifying remedies for teeth that are chipped, cracked, gapped, stained, misshaped, or even misaligned—often being incorporated in smile makeovers to create gorgeous smile transformations.

Our Process

Two oral healthcare professionals - Dr. Rasmussen and your dental hygienist – will see you. The hygienist will conduct an initial oral exam of your gums. The hygienists will document any issues and record the evaluation.
Professional Treatment
Hygienists document any changes in your overall health and medicine use, clean and polish your teeth, talk to you about caring for your teeth and gums, and answer any questions you might have about home care products. Dr. Rasmussen will also conduct an oral exam of your gums and teeth, ask about changes in your overall health or medicine use, review the cleaning done by the hygienist, look for signs of oral cancer and other diseases, diagnose any oral health problems, and make treatment recommendations.
Although home-based tooth brushing and flossing help remove plaque, only a professional cleaning – provided by your dental hygienist – can thoroughly clean your teeth and remove the hardened plaque (called calculus or tartar) that builds up on teeth. Most hygienists use a series of metal hand instruments to clean your teeth. Some are using ultrasonic scalers, which provide deep cleaning above and below the gum line.
After your teeth have been cleaned, they are polished to remove plaque and stains on the tooth surface. The polish contains an abrasive substance and fluoride, and is applied using a small rotating rubber cup or brush attached to the dental hand piece.
Your hygienist might offer additional instructions for you to follow at home, based on the results of your exam. Don’t hesitate to ask your hygienist for instructions about brushing or flossing, or general care questions about your teeth and gums.
X-rays may or may not be taken during your checkup. Dr. Rasmussen will consider your oral exam, dental history, and risk for developing cavities to decide if you absolutely need X-rays.
If any oral health problems are found during your examination, Dr. Rasmussen will make recommendations for the best next steps. These might include a few tests, or a return visit for restoration work (for example, fillings and crowns), or additional oral healthcare.
